This collage painting was originally created for a show at the Oliver Art Center called, “Tactility”. The idea of the show was to have two dimensional works with three dimensional qualities. I did not get the painting finished in time to enter into the show so it hung in my studio, waiting for something to happen. One day I noticed that there was the face of a woman barely visible behind the music. I brought her more out into the open. Then the OAC put out a call for artwork for a show called “She” and so this painting became part of that show.

The pages of music are some of the Pere Gynt Suite by Edvard Grieg. The pages were literally falling apart. I think they were at least 70 years old. I bought some new music of the same and used the old music pages for this painting, another one called, “Morning Song” and one more which hasn’t yet materialized.
