We’re All In This . . . .
38” x 24” oil on canvas $1800
This painting was accepted into the annual juried show at the Oliver Art Center in Frankfort, Michigan. It also won an award!
There are at least 25 mammals, birds, insects and humans in this painting. There’s also a bit of pastel used for the tiny little curving, quirky lines. I was using a light colored pastel to sketch in where I wanted to add dark areas to the painting. I loved the little lines so much that I painted over some and left the others, subsequently adding a few more to help the movement within the painting. Casein fixative was used to seal the pastel and also to varnish the painting when it was finished. Because I use water soluble oil paints I can also use water based fixatives and know that it’s all becoming part of the pigment layers of the painting.
